Trip Start

Our adventure begins promptly in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) at 5pm on Friday, February 11, 2022 at the Myst Dong Khoi hotel (see Our Accommodations).

It is each guest's responsibility to meet at the trip's starting point on time. We recommend arriving at least one full day prior to the start of our trip in the case of unforeseen circumstances or travel delays. For information on where to stay the night before, see the following Pre-Arrival Accommodations section.

Arrival Airport

The closest airport to our trip starting point is Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN), about a 20-minute drive from our hotel. Currently there are no direct flights to SGN airport from the United States. Instead, you'll connect through any major Asian hub including Tokyo (6.5hr), Hong Kong (2.5hr), Singapore (2hr, 10min) and a dozen other cities in the region, as well as European hubs including London (12.5hr) and Paris (12hr).

Transfer from Airport

We recommend scheduling a car through the hotel or hailing a taxi upon arrival. Private transportation is available from SGN airport to our hotel through the concierge at Myst Dong Khoi hotel (see Our Accommodations) no more than 30 days ahead of your arrival. Contact the hotel's concierge desk directly to arrange.

Alternatively, you can arrange your own taxi upon arrival. Metered taxis are available on the arrivals level at both Domestic and International terminals. Taxi fare is charged according to the taxi meter, and takes 30-40 minutes to the city center. The cost is approximately 320,000 VND (approx. US$15).

Pre-Arrival Accommodations

We stay in unique, in-demand hotels on this trip—rooms go fast and daily rates change frequently. If you plan to arrive in Ho Chi Minh City prior to the beginning of our journey, we recommend staying at Myst Dong Khoi hotel (see Our Accommodations), which is also our meeting spot on Day One. Please contact the hotel directly to book.

If they are booked, we also recommend the Alcove Library Hotel or Hotel des Arts, two well-regarded boutique hotels conveniently located in the city's old quarter.

We end our trip—after a week of exploration, connection, and delicious food and drink—at the Hotel Royal in Hoi An on Friday, February 18, 2022.

Departure Airport

We recommend booking your outbound flights from Da Nang International Airport (DAD)—about an hour drive from our hotel in Hoi An. This is a different airport from the one we begin at, so make sure to book your outbound flights correctly.

Transfer to Airport

After breakfast on our last day, Modern Adventure will provide multiple group transfers to DAD based on flight times. Your flight home can be scheduled to depart at any time on this day.

If you are planning on extending your time in Vietnam, it is your responsibility to arrange alternative transportation from our Hoi An hotel to the Da Nang airport. Please arrange your taxi at least five days in advance by contacting the Hotel Royal directly. Let them know you are traveling with Modern Adventure.

Post-Trip Accommodations
